Before Dana White changed into the successful businessman that he’s today, he hoped to have a profession in skilled boxing.
UFC boss Dana White has a protracted history in the game of boxing, and at one point in his life, he was hopeful that he would develop into knowledgeable in the game.
Whilst working as a bellhop in a hotel in Boston, White began his boxing journey and linked up with former Golden Gloves champion Peter Welch.
Despite competing in several amateur bouts, White ended his journey as a boxer as he feared he would suffer from long-term brain damage after seeing a ‘punch drunk’ boxer.
Fans react to footage of Dana White boxing
Earlier this 12 months, it was announced that the combat sports mogul was partnering up with the consensus saviour of boxing Turki Alalshikh to launch a brand new boxing promotion, Zuffa Boxing.
The pair then launched their inaugural event in September as Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford clashed in one among the largest boxing fights in recent memory.
Recently on social media, footage emerged of White during his boxing days, sparring in his gym. At one point during his time because the UFC president, Dana agreed to fight UFC legend Tito Ortiz, because the two had an ongoing feud.
After all, the fight didn’t occur but after seeing the footage of White within the boxing ring, fans were complimentary over his skills.
“He’s really a boxing fan at heart,” one fan commented on the video.
“Dana has higher defensive boxing than 75% of MMA. His glove return is immaculate. What the f—,” one other fan reacted.
“How is the boss a greater boxer than all of the fighters on his roster (laughing my a– off),” a fourth fan said.
Another person White was controversially linked to box throughout his time because the UFC president was Oscar De La Hoya, arguably his biggest ever rival.
“Yo, he’s actually not that bad,” one other fan commented.
How would a boxing fight against Tito Ortiz have gone?
During his peak within the UFC, Ortiz was somewhat of an underrated fighter and he won the sunshine heavyweight title scoring wins over the likes of Chuck Liddell, Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort.
Ultimately, there’s a reason why White didn’t pursue a profession in boxing, and if he and Ortiz did controversially fight once they planned to, things likely wouldn’t have gone well for the UFC president.
