The Mapúa University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management goals to spice up its enrollees for the next academic 12 months through its partnership with Ayala Land Hospitality (ALH).
“We’re gearing up for a greater (enrollment turnout) for 2026-2027. Actually, for the following term, we hope that we get much more,” Mapúa School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Dean Lora Lee F. Reboton told BusinessWorld in an interview on Wednesday.
Since opening its doors to students for the 2025-2026 academic 12 months, the college currently has 20 students, divided equally between its two programs: Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management.
Ms. Reboton noted that the low enrollment rates this 12 months were because of a scarcity of time to advertise the programs.
“After we began marketing the programs, that was in April or May, so it was too near the opening of the college, which was in August,” she said. “We didn’t have the posh of time, but we were blessed to have that much.”
To spice up the number of scholars, the college will deal with transferees and late enrollees for this 12 months’s second term.
“We’ll give you the chance to accommodate more students who will probably be transferring or late enrollees who selected to rest through the first term. We hope that we’ll get much more enrollees,” Ms. Reboton said.
The college also goals to focus on its partnership with ALH, more specifically with one among its brands, Seda Hotels, to encourage more students to affix this system.
Positioned beside Seda Manila Bay, Ms. Reboton said students could have a “living and respiratory laboratory” that they will use at any time when needed, which makes learning more experiential.
“Our faculty is a partnership with the Ayala Land Hospitality, so you possibly can expect that instructions here will probably be made by professionals from Seda Hotel mostly,” she added.
Aligned with the industry standards and practices of Seda Hotels, graduates from the brand new Mapúa school may even be ‘prioritized’ upon employment application within the 12 properties of the hotel brand.
“Because we’re partnered with them, we now have the sting already,” Ms. Reboton said. “So while you say you got here from Mapúa University School of Tourism and Hospitality, you’re prioritized, nevertheless it’s still subject to their selection process.”
