Du Plessis provides expert prediction for potential Chimaev vs Pereira clash

Although the Chechen is clearly extremely hopeful that he’s capable of move as much as light heavyweight to tackle the present 205lb champion, ‘Poatan’ seems adamant about securing a brilliant fight against Jon Jones.

And with that, following his reclaiming of the title, he responded to Chimaev, admitting that he isn’t involved in a fight against him as of now, and is simply involved in pursuing a fight against ‘Bones’.

Nonetheless, with Jones having recently retired from the game, a matchup between Pereira and Chimaev is seemingly more more likely to occur.

With talks continuing to stir amongst the UFC fanbase over which fight is larger, former champion, Du Plessis has had his say on the potential clash between Chimaev and Pereira.

“Khamzat has at all times had crazy callouts,” Du Plessis began to elucidate in an interview with Fight Forecast.

“You understand, there’s no way he beats Pereira in my view. I believe Pereira immediately is one among the best to ever do that sport or any combat sports for that matter, but yeah, he’s a giant guy.

“Even now at light heavyweight he looked so big against (Magomed) Ankalaev so. I believe that’s all hype, I don’t think there’s any realistic probability that ever happens,” Du Plessis continued.

Du Plessis not the just one questioning Chimaev’s probabilities against Pereira

Although Chimaev’s skillset could cause a nightmare for Pereira, who has yet to be tested within the grappling department, Du Plessis isn’t the just one doubting ‘Borz’s’ probabilities against ‘Poatan’.

UFC legends Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen have also doubted Chimaev’s probabilities against the Brazilian, claiming that Pereira can be too big for him to manage like he has controlled previous opponents.

“Size has to matter in some unspecified time in the future. It may not matter from 170lbs to 185lbs, however it’s got to matter whenever you start jumping 20lbs,” Cormier said within the recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy.
