Muhammad Ali’s grandson insists late boxing legend ‘would never support’ Dana White’s Revival Act

Nico Ali Walsh has spoken out against the changes made to the act named after his grandfather.

The Muhammad Ali Act is a federal law that has protected the rights and welfare of boxers for the past 25 years.

Rumors about Dana White attempting to alter the act have been swirling ever since he launched his boxing league in March.

The UFC CEO insisted he isn’t changing the Muhammad Ali Act, but is attempting to create a new edition that can run alongside the one which already exists.

Nico Ali Walsh slams the Muhammad Ali Revival Act

Nico Ali Walsh is an expert boxer who honors his grandfather along with his nickname, ‘The Legend Lives On’.

The 25-year-old, who boasts an 11-2 (1NC) record, was furious to learn that the Muhammad Ali Revival Act was unanimously approved by the California State Athletic Commission [CSAC] on Wednesday.

“Anyone who truly knew my grandfather knows he’d never support this ‘Revival Act,” Ali Walsh tweeted.

“Legacy isn’t about last names, it’s about principles. I stand with my grandfather’s principles.

“In case you’re not a fighter, don’t speak for us. It’s disappointing the CSAC is backing this.”

Muhammad Ali’s other famous grandson, Biaggio Ali Walsh, an MMA fighter signed to PFL, voiced his concern about Dana White’s plan back in August.

“As an Ali, I’m completely against altering the Muhammad Ali Act,” Biaggio said. “My grandfather fought for it to guard fighters from getting screwed over. Remove it, and promoters take control while fighters receives a commission less. Keep the act and protect the fighters who put their lives on the road.”

Lonnie Ali lends her support

WWE president and TKO executive Nick Khan, when thanking the California State Athletic Commission in a press release after their decision on Wednesday, stated that that they had the support of Muhammad Ali’s wife.

“Because the commission is fully aware, the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act is supported by Lonnie Ali, wife of the best, Muhammad Ali,” Khan wrote in a Zuffa Boxing statement.

“We all know Lonnie personally and may share with what she said to us: ‘That is an incredible opportunity for boxers, and that is what Muhammad would have wanted.’”
