Recent Zealand vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup game abandoned due to rain, confirming South Africa’s semifinal spot.

The Women’s World Cup clash between Recent Zealand and Pakistan was abandoned on Saturday, October 18, due to incessant rain, confirming South Africa’s spot within the semifinals.
Persistent showers interrupted play twice, permitting only 25 overs of motion. Put in to bat, Pakistan reached 92/5 before rain washed out the competition. It was the fourth game to finish with no result at this venue within the island nation’s capital, after the abandoned games between Sri Lanka and Australia, Sri Lanka and Recent Zealand and England and Pakistan.
Each Pakistan and Recent Zealand have now seen their last two games rained off. The result lifted South Africa into the semifinals because the second side to qualify after Australia. Recent Zealand remain fifth, while Pakistan stay bottom and are out of contention.
Earlier, the sport had already been reduced to 46 overs a side after an extended afternoon delay, with Pakistan 52/3 in 12.2 overs when play first stopped. When play resumed at 5:35 pm local time, Pakistan lost two more wickets before the heavens opened again.
Star Recent Zealand pacer Lea Tahuhu led the White Ferns’ bowling effort with figures of two/20 from six overs. Medium-pacer Jess Kerr, Amelia Kerr and Eden Carson chipped in with a wicket each.
Pakistan began brightly through openers Muneeba Ali (22) and Omaima Sohail (3), adding 30 for the primary wicket. But Tahuhu trapped the latter LBW within the seventh over to trigger one other familiar collapse.
Muneeba’s promising innings ended when Suzie Bates pulled off a pointy diving catch at short midwicket off Jess. Sidra Amin (9) was next to go, caught by Carson at point just before a protracted rain break.
When play resumed, captain Fatima Sana fell to Amelia and by the point rain returned for good, Pakistan were tottering at 92/5 with Aaliya Riaz on 28*.
