Ruben Amorim has refused to entertain suggestions that Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee will leave Manchester United within the January transfer window.

Mainoo’s request to depart Old Trafford on loan within the closing stages of the summer transfer window was rejected by United.

The 20-year-old has not began a game within the Premier League this season, while Amorim has faced criticism for not giving the midfielder more opportunities.

Zirkzee, meanwhile, can be struggling for taking part in time this season and has made just three substitute appearances within the Premier League, plus one other appearance off the bench within the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town in August.

Asked if he understands the frustrations of Mainoo and Zirkzee, Amorim said: ‘That’s normal, and I also know that in our club, all the things is quite a lot of noise, and you will have to have news, and players should not playing. They need to play.

‘So, I understand that but they’re our players, and we want everyone to have an excellent season.’

Amorim also refused to issue a direct response to Marcus Rashford’s claim earlier this week that he was a part of an ‘inconsistent environment’ at United.

‘I’m just focused on the long run of the club, on the current of the club,’ Amorim said.

‘That’s a very powerful thing. So, I’m focused just on my players and what they are saying, what they do, that’s my most important focus.’
