Eddie Hearn says he doesn’t understand what the delay is that’s keeping Tyson Fury from agreeing to fight Anthony Joshua. It annoyed Hearn that Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) is curious about coming back to fight Oleksandr Usyk a 3rd time, but he’s not willing to fight Joshua.
The 0–2 Reality Check
“AJ would like to fight Usyk again. But he also understands it’s probably not a fight he can call for just yet because he’s coming off a defeat, and he’s lost to him twice before,” said Eddie Hearn to Sky Sports Boxing.
Hearn could have arrange a 3rd fight between Joshua and Usyk if he’d desired to. It’s not just like the fight would have been unimaginable to make. AJ and Hearn would have needed to campaign for it. If Eddie had asked Turki Alalshikh to assist him out on this, he’d likely have made the Joshua vs. Usyk fight by now.
“Identical to the truth is, Tyson Fury’s coming off two defeats. The trilogy being 2-0 down will not be really something that happens lots,” said Hearn a couple of potential trilogy between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Hearn is correct. You rarely see a 3rd fight when the primary two were won by one fighter. Fury did it before when he fought Derek Chisora for a 3rd time after beating him in the primary two fights.
Fans Want AJ, Not Usyk
“Nobody’s curious about Fury against Usyk, nobody’s curious about AJ against Usyk, they’ve seen it twice and it was the identical result each times. Persons are curious about AJ against Fury
I don’t know what the delay is for the inevitability of just saying After all, let’s make the fight,” said Hearn. I feel [it has to happen]. Why delay the inevitable?”
There are a number of fans who’re very curious about seeing Usyk and Fury fight again. It’s entertaining watching the 2 throughout the build-up, listening to ‘The Gypsy King’ play the victim role, attempting to get fans to pity him. He’s the poor wealthy man.
Closure Before Chaos
Hearn must get it through his head that Fury is convinced that he deserved the victory in his two fights with Usyk. He believes he can beat Oleksandr within the third fight, and he desires to avenge those losses before he can move ahead to fight Joshua.
Once Tyson gets some closure on what happened within the two Usyk fights, he’s going to focus on Joshua. He knows how much money might be at stake, and he’s not going to focus on a smaller payday against someone equally as tough, if not tougher.
