Radhika Vidyasagar, currently known for her portrayal of Renuka in Udne Ki Aasha and several other acclaimed Marathi serials, has all the time been greater than just an actor. Radhika understands the ability and responsibility of media beyond its entertainment value. In a recent conversation, she shared her perspective on how the entertainment industry can contribute to spreading awareness about compassion towards animals.
Radhika Vidyasagar Advocates For Animal Welfare Through The Power Of TV
Reflecting on her academic background, Radhika said to Bollywood Bubble, “After I was doing my master’s in communication studies, we were again and again told that television is all about infotainment, that’s, information plus entertainment. It’s not just for entertainment.” She emphasises that television and film have the ability to influence masses deeply and that the industry should harness this influence to handle essential social issues, including animal welfare.
Speaking passionately in regards to the cause, she says, “I very strongly feel that entertainment or TV has a vital role to play regarding animals, regarding pets, regarding dogs. There needs to be strict punishment against cruelty towards animals and abandonment of pets.”
Radhika believes that awareness campaigns, narratives, and on-screen storytelling can turn out to be powerful tools for empathy. She says, “Television is a powerful medium through which any information may be reached by the masses; it influences people and makes a powerful impact.”
For her, media isn’t only a mirror to society but a medium that may encourage kindness, shape values, and convey change. With actors like Radhika using their voice for causes beyond the screen, the road between entertainment and empathy continues to blur, in one of the best ways possible.
