On this week’s episode of “The Each day Show,” Jon Stewart went after Fox News for his or her wishy-washy response to Saturday’s No Kings protests.
Stewart opened the monologue with clips of House Speaker Mike Johnson calling the No Kings protests the “hate America rally,” and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calling participants “the farthest left, the toughest core, essentially the most unhinged within the Democratic party.”
“Not the toughest core! I expected partial Marxism and hard core, but not full display hardest core ha-Marxism,” Stewart joked. “It was going to be like ‘Mad Max’ on the market with Chuck Schumer on flaming guitar!”
He added, “So, this weekend, we sat in our bunkers, doors locked, windows boarded, muskets and cyanide pills on the ready, prepared for regardless of the hardest core had in store. Do your worst, display your Marxism to its fullest!”
Stewart then cut to CNN’s report, which claimed that about 7 million people participated within the nationwide demonstration, and that the protests were “largely peaceful” and “often joyful.”
“It was type of an incredible turnout that was somewhat inspiring. 7 million Americans, zero mass shootings?” Stewart said. “I look ahead to Republicans apologizing sincerely for implying these Americans were… what’s the word I’m on the lookout for? Deplorable!”
Back on Fox News, anchors were calling participants, “silly” and “dumb.” One commentator said due to all of the “absurdist costumes,” the protests “don’t look serious.”
“Make up your mind, Fox,” Stewart said. “You complained it might be a terrifyingly ‘shit your pants’ protest, and now you’re complaining about how boringly unpants-shitting it was? Although there was one nit you picked that actually felt off brand.”
Stewart then targeted one other Fox News criticism, which was the No Kings protests were comprised of mostly “old white people.”
“Extra extra, this read all about it! ‘This country has too many indignant old white people,’ says — hold on — Fox News,” Stewart joked. “Fox News says, ‘Why are old white people so indignant?’ Fox News, mad that there are such a lot of old white people in America.”
