Manchester United could have pulled off an excellent result at Anfield last day trip, but Dwight Yorke wants Ruben Amorim to vary his team this weekend.
The Red Devils beat Liverpool 2-1 on Sunday, with Bryan Mbeumo scoring inside two minutes and Harry Maguire the hero with a late winner after Cody Gakpo had equalised.
There was something of a surprise in Amorim’s team selection as striker Benjamin Sesko was on the bench on Merseyside.
It was an unlikely alternative because the summer signing had scored in his last two appearances for Manchester United, in defeat at Brentford and in a win over Sunderland.
Mason Mount replaced the Slovenian within the starting line-up, but Yorke thinks Sesko needs to be reinstalled to the starting XI on Saturday when Brighton visit Old Trafford.

‘I believe Benjamin Sesko must be Manchester United’s starting striker,’ Yorke told Escapist Magazine.
‘We’ve seen the likes of Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha play within the position this season, but I believe in the event you invest all this money in a striker, then you have to give him as much time as possible to adapt to the Premier League. I believe he’s a superb player and works extremely hard.

‘He’s playing in a team that isn’t scoring as recurrently as they need, so there’s going to be times where he’ll find it tough going, but I believe United should persist with him because he’s the very best option for them in that position.’
Amorim explained the choice after the dramatic win at Liverpool, saying: ‘Especially within the bad moments, you may have to go together with your guts and I at all times go by that, irrespective of what.
‘I believe it’s an important thing for the manager, right or flawed sometimes, but that’s, for me, the important thing point of being a manager.

‘After which sometimes you may have a player in the nice moment, however the characteristic of the sport will not be for him, so it’s higher to go together with a player and understand that will not be for him after which take him out to the sport.’
He added: ‘Sometimes the characteristics of the sport change the way in which you will approach the sport.
‘So I believe for instance, [Matheus] Cunha, in the center, if we put Ben [Sesko], I believe it’s easier for this type of centre-backs to manage our striker.

‘So we try to do this, but once you win is so smart, the coach, is amazing, after which once you lose, it’s something flawed with the manager. I understand that.
‘That’s why I’m going at all times what I believe is the very best for the team.’
Yorke had praise for United’s match-winner on Merseyside, but will not be sure Maguire goes to battle his way back into the England team for the World Cup next summer.

‘I like what Harry Maguire is doing for Manchester United in the mean time and I hope he continues to do this, but I don’t think he’s able to get back into the England setup yet,’ said the previous Red Devils striker.
‘Unless he seems to have an incredible season between now and next summer, I believe Thomas Tuchel should give the spots to younger players like Marc Guehi and Ezri Konsa.
‘I believe he has shown real resilience this season and appears to be getting probably the most out of himself for the club. He put in an enormous performance against Liverpool on Sunday and we’ll see how the remaining of the season unfolds, but in relation to England selection, I believe Tuchel may look towards younger options next summer.’
