Shreyas Iyer continues his recovery in a Sydney hospital after suffering life-threatening injury in the course of the third ODI between India and Australia recently. Iyer was within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering a laceration to the spleen while attempting a successful catch of Australian batter Alex Carey. The Indian middle-order batter looked in unbearable pain and was taken off the sector before being admitted to a hospital.
In accordance with Dainik Jagran, Iyer’s medical reports were sent to Dinshaw Pardiwala, head of the ICC Medical Committee, BCCI Medical Panel, and the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Centre for Sports Medicine. Pardiwala reportedly told the BCCI that the board’s medical team’s timely intervention on the bottom has saved Iyer’s life.
“Last but not least, congratulations to the medical team on the bottom. Your timely diagnosis and immediate motion saved a life,” the publication quoted Pardiwala’s email to the board as saying.
