India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav said Shreyas Iyer is getting all of the support he needs and is hopeful the ODI vice-captain will make a full recovery.

Shreyas Iyer, who suffered a laceration of the spleen and rib cage injury, is now out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Sydney hospital and recovering well. The India ODI vice-captain suffered the life-threatening injury while taking a catch in the course of the third match against Australia on the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Initially, the team didn’t read an excessive amount of into the injury but when Iyer reportedly fainted contained in the dressing room and his vital signs dropped, he was rushed to a hospital where tests revealed internal bleeding as a consequence of the ruptured spleen.
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav on Tuesday revealed that Iyer has been responding to his messages and that he should recuperate soon enough.
In a moment of levity, Surya quipped rare events occur with rare talents.
“Doctors aur physios ne bataaya ki unlucky tha jo bhi hua toh aisa kabhi hota nahi hai, bahut rare hota hai. Shreyas bhi toh rare hai, toh rare talent ke saath he rare hota hai kabhi kabhi. But theek hai, bhagwan ne saath diya abhi. He’s recovering very well. Doctors saath de rahe hain, BCCI is in full support toh jaldi recuperate ho jayega aur phir saath hi leke jayenge phir usko ghar. (Doctors and physios said it was an unlucky injury; this is kind of rare. Shreyas can be a rare talent. Rare incidents occur with rare talent. However it’s high quality, God has been with him and he’s recovering well. BCCI is in full support, and we are going to take him home alongside),” Suryakumar said.
