Audrianna Cobb-Williams, a former Monroe Comprehensive High School cheer coach, has been found not guilty two years after being charged with sexual assault of student Jaquan Maddox.

Audrianna Cobb-Williams Found Not Guilty Of Sexual Assault Of Student

In keeping with WALB, Audrianna Cobb-Williams’ trial began on October 29. She was reportedly facing two counts of “first-degree sexual contact by a faculty worker or agent,” together with “10 years in prison for every count.” Per a separate report from the outlet, Cobb-Williams was reportedly offered two plea deals. Nonetheless, she reportedly declined them each.

By the tip of the trial’s first day, one count of sexual contact was dismissed on the defense’s and the judge’s agreement that the count had “no legal basis.” On that day, the defense reportedly made Maddox admit to attempting to extort a $1,000 weekly payment from Cobb-Williams if she wanted “all of this to go away.”

On October 30, jurors then heard conflicting audio from Madoxx. In a single instance, he reportedly denied that he and Cobb-Williams had sexual activity. Nonetheless, within the second audio, he alleged that he had sexual and oral intercourse. Meanwhile, in audio shared of Cobb-Williams, she was heard admitting that she and Maddox had feelings for one another. Nonetheless, she asserted that they never became sexual.

On Friday, October 31, Cobb-Williams took the stand, per WALB. Subsequently, jurors deliberated for just a little over an hour. Ultimately, the group rendered a verdict of not guilty.

“I feel blessed and favored,” Cobb-Williams told reporters outside the courthouse. “… Once I got on that stand, I told the reality, and I do know after they got here back in, it made me feel so good. So I just wish to say thanks to the jury.”
