If Yashasvi Jaiswal needed a confidence boost ahead of India’s upcoming Test tour of South Africa, he just found it in the shape of one more commanding century for Mumbai within the Ranji Trophy.

The young opener struck an impressive 156 off 174 balls against Rajasthan in Jaipur, his sixteenth first-class hundred, to steer Mumbai to safety on the ultimate day of their Group D clash.

His knock not only salvaged a draw but additionally served as the proper tune-up before India’s red-ball challenge in tough South African conditions later this month.

Chasing a frightening first-innings deficit of 363 runs after Rajasthan piled up 617, Mumbai began day 4 at 89 for no loss. Jaiswal, typically aggressive yet composed, batted with the peace of mind of a person in form. His innings featured 18 fours and a six, as he stitched a 149-run opening stand with Musheer Khan (63) and later added 67 with Siddhesh Lad (19)*.

After Delhi managed 294 in the primary innings to Puducherry’s 481, the hosts batted out the ultimate day to attract the match.

Rana scored a maiden 170 off 275 balls with 17 fours and two sixes, while Sangwan made 122 off 213 balls, topping the season’s run charts with 568 runs in three games.

Delhi, still winless at home, sit fifth within the group standings.
