“…And to anyone I can have hurt over time I apologize, including Lapattra Jacobs… despite the fact that yes it was self defense I apologize,” Mayweather wrote.

The incident happened in April 2020 while Jacobs was visiting NBA YoungBoy’s home. She and the rapper share a young child. After the incident, Jacobs underwent surgery for non life-threatening injuries from the stabbing. Mayweather was arrested and released the identical day after posting a $30,000 bond. In December 2022, she got a deferred adjudication of guilt and a six-year probation sentence. She avoided jail time, had to finish 40 hours of community service, and was banned from harassing or threatening Lapattra, per XXL.

In December 2020, Lapattra got a protective order against Yaya. Eventually, she also sued Yaya for physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment, medical costs, lack of earnings and disfigurement. It’s unclear how that civil case played out.
