The ex-Duke of York has been stripped of his titles, given an eviction notice and, now, Canada have landed the most recent blow – wanting to remove his name from the country’s streets, places and an island.

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s relationship with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, has put pressure on the royal family for years, and so they finally did something about it.

He is not any longer often called ‘Prince Andrew’ or the ‘Duke of York’, making him a commoner, but he continues to be eighth in line for the throne.

Mr Windsor still rigorously denies the allegations made against him by the late Virginia Giuffre, who said he sexually assaulted her 3 times after being trafficked by Epstein.

Now, Canadian politicians don’t need the disgraced royal’s name on the streets of their country.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Metro: ‘I feel it’s only appropriate because no person desires to be identified with someone who is just not only in disgrace, but in unique disgrace.

‘Sometimes it could actually’t be modified immediately because you’ve got to have local consultations before you make the change.

‘So it’s actually quite technical and sophisticated.’

Ontario senator, Tony Dean, believes confidence within the royal family had been diminishing ever since Queen Elizabeth’s death, which made it unsurprising to him that there was a push to alter things.

Julie Miville-Dechêne, senator for Inkerman in Quebec, wants Canada to do away with all of the names of roads and places which are named after the ex-Duke of York.

Some sites in Canada have already been successfully renamed after campaigns demanding change.

The varsity was named after the previous royal in 1960 to honour his birth.

It is just not only places in Canada due for a reputation change, as there are various across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that might get entirely latest street names.
