The newly crowned Miss Universe sparked a mass walkout from the competition in a moment described as ‘probably the most empowering act within the pageant’s history.’
Victoria Theilvig, the primary Danish contestant to win the highest title, stormed out in the course of the sashing ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.
It got here in solidarity with Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, who was escorted out by security for not showing executive director Nawat Itsaragrisi ‘enough respect’.
Within the video, the boss may be heard saying: ‘Mexico where are you?
‘I heard you’re not going to post the whole lot about the whole lot in Thailand…’, seemingly referring to the request for contestants to post promotional stories in regards to the competition on their social media.
When Bosch, 26, responded, the boss tried to silence her, demanding: ‘I’m still talking, listen.’
She then defended herself, saying: ‘I even have a voice. You’re not respecting me as a girl.’

Gasps filled the room as Itsaragrisil called for security to escort Miss Mexico out.
2024 Miss Universe winner decided to take a stand in solidarity after the boss called Bosch ‘dumb’.

As the opposite women joined in and started leaving the room, the boss is repeatedly heard saying ‘stop’, ‘sit down’ and ‘If anyone desires to proceed the competition, sit down.’
The display of empowerment was shared to social media and quickly gained praise from other women.

Theilvig’s walkout was hailed as an act of integrity and courage by fans and former contestants.
Miss Universe posted a video statement from Raúl Rocha, president of the organisation.
He said: ‘I won’t allow the values of respect and dignity toward women to be violated.
‘Unfortunately, Nawat has forgotten the true meaning of what it means to be a real host.
‘It means to show to all delegates of all countries that he, as a number, has an obligation to serve them, assist them and support them.
‘And to make sure they’ve a singular life experience full of kindness and courtesy.’
He said he has restricted Nawat’s participation within the upcoming Miss Universe events.
He has instructed their CEO, on behalf of the Miss Universe Organisation, to detail all corporate and legal actions they’ll undertake in consequence of the ‘malicious acts’ committed by Nawat.
‘We won’t allow, not a single person, to cause harm and to thwart the dreams of so many ladies who travelled from all around the world to be here.’
