‘That is The Creme De La Creme’

Just 166 days after debuting on WWE television, Sheamus captured the corporate’s biggest prize, the WWE Championship. “The Celtic Warrior” did so in dramatic fashion by sending John Cena, the arguable face of WWE, through a table at WWE’s 2009 TLC pay-per-view. During a recent edition of the “Raw Recap,” Sheamus looked back on the main profession milestone, noting that it also marked a private dream come true.

“Once I look back, and clearly it got here so fast, that was the goal for me at all times was to not only make up the numbers, but to achieve success and clearly win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. That is the creme de la creme,” he said. “I grew up watching this sport, this entertainment, whatever you ought to call it. I didn’t miss Saturday Night’s Predominant Event. I didn’t miss the Saturday morning shows, and thru to the Latest Generation all the best way as much as the Attitude Era. I used to be an enormous fan, and that is a dream everybody has who watches WWE.”

On the time of his title win, Sheamus had been working under the WWE banner for 2 years, starting with a stint in its developmental territory of Florida Championship Wrestling. Provided that dynamic, Sheamus still felt relatively “green” inside the WWE landscape, especially on the major roster. Still, he knew he possessed unique qualities that made him stand out.

“I knew I had intensity that no one else had, and that is really what that is kept me unique, in addition to my skin color and red hair and my accent being Dublin, but I believe that the intensity is something that I’ve at all times really form of leaned into.”

Sheamus’ first reign as WWE Champion spanned 70 days. Cena eventually dethroned him by winning the 2010 Elimination Chamber match for the respective title.

Sheamus Is Still Giving It His All

16 years faraway from their first WWE Championship match, Cena and Sheamus may meet again as the previous wraps up his in-ring profession at WWE Saturday Night’s Predominant Event next month. En path to Cena’s final match, WWE has organized a 16-man tournament with talents from “WWE Raw,” “WWE SmackDown,” “WWE NXT,” and potentially from outside the corporate. Within the opening round, Sheamus will tackle Shinsuke Nakamura.

In comparing himself to Cena, Sheamus noted that he and the 17-time world champion are just one yr apart in age. Still, Sheamus jokes that it seems like his own profession is just getting began.

“Last week I used to be in there with JD [McDonagh] and just ripping it up,” Sheamus said. “Once I first got here here, there was a few folks that were form of phoning in on their merits, just form of doing whatever they’ll, they usually knew they were here an extended time. I checked out it, I said, ‘The day I do not go on the market and provides 110% or give every thing I possibly have in each match, I do not care if it is a Raw, SmackDown, I do not care if it’s an NXT, it’s Predominant Event that they tape before the show, I won’t go on the market not give every thing I even have in each match I even have.'”

“… Each time I get on the market, even tonight running out and beating Dom [Mysterio], I’m knocking the bollocks out of him, I still get that crazy adrenaline rush because every bleedin’ day is a present. Each time I get out, I’m still going, I’ve still got it, I still train very hard. That is how great I feel about this business.”

Sheamus’ faceoff with Nakamura will happen on the upcoming episode of “Raw,” which emanates from Cena’s hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.
