The Gunners’ only top-flight defeat this term was against Liverpool at Anfield in August but Shearer feels Arsenal is not going to face a tougher game than their 2-2 draw with Sunderland on the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Shearer’s surprising claim comes despite Arsenal having not yet played Premier League title rivals Manchester City on the Etihad, with that game set to happen in April 2026.

‘I doubt Arsenal can have a tougher game this season than the one that they had on the weekend [against Sunderland],’ Shearer told Betfair.
‘I’ve been mightily surprised at how well Sunderland have done. I don’t think even their most hardened supporters would let you know that they’d be where they’re within the league and what they’re doing thus far this season.
‘I feel one thing that’s come out of Sunderland is how tough it’s going to be for any team going to the Stadium of Light.’

Shearer rules Liverpool out of the title race
Meanwhile, Shearer feels Arsenal have an awesome probability to land this season’s Premier League title with the previous striker adamant that Liverpool aren’t any longer within the race.
The Reds are the present champions of England but suffered a 3-0 defeat to City last day out and are currently eighth within the Premier League table.
‘If Liverpool proceed to play like they did against Manchester City, then they won’t win anything,’ Shearer added.
‘They’ll get dumped out of whatever competitions they’re in. They’ve got the FA Cup and the Champions League, but I do think the league’s gone for them now they’ve lost five games.
‘I don’t see them being in a title race now. I feel they’d should probably win each game between now and the top of the season.
‘I don’t think that’s possible. So, I feel their title race is completed.
‘It’s the Champions League or the FA Cup for Liverpool, but they won’t be winning any of those unless they improve anyway.’
