Liverpool are reportedly serious about signing a former Arsenal forward who can be available on a free transfer next summer.
The Reds’ Premier League title defence shouldn’t be going to plan, with Arne Slot’s side currently eighth within the table, eight points off leaders Arsenal, despite spending a staggering £420million last summer
While much focus has been on their leaky defence, their attack can be suffering, having scored fewer goals than their ‘big-six’ rivals after 11 games.
Recent signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have been poor, Mohamed Salah is experiencing a big dip in form, and the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich is proving very costly.
As such, the Merseyside club are exploring ways to bolster their forward line without having to again break the bank and there is perhaps an ideal solution on the horizon.

Bayern star Serge Gnabry is out of contract at the tip of the season, with BILD reporting that Liverpool and Juventus are among the many European giants serious about snapping up the soon to be free agent.
It is alleged that talks have been held over extending his stay on the Allianz Arena but Bayern would want the 30-year-old to cut back his salary, considered price over £300,000-a-week.

If no latest contract is agreed by January 1, Liverpool, or indeed some other club outside of Germany, can begin negotiating with Gnabry over a free summer transfer.
Able to playing across the forward line, the German international has 4 goals and three assists in nine Bundesliga games this season, though his stats pale compared to teammates Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Diaz.
It shouldn’t be known whether Gnabry can be serious about a move to Anfield but he has previous experience of the Premier League having spent five years at Arsenal.
Serge Gnabry Bayern Munich profession stats
Appearances: 300
Goals: 97
Assists: 65
Trophies: Bundesliga (2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2024/25), DFP-Pokal (2018/19, 2019/20), Champions League (2019/20), Club World Cup (2020)
He would make just 18 appearances under Arsene Wenger nonetheless and had an infamous loan spell at West Brom where played only one league game, with manager Tony Pulis claiming Gnabry was ‘not on the required level’ to play for the Baggies.
It proved to be a significant misjudgement, because the forward would join Bayern in 2017 and grow to be an elite forward, playing a key role within the treble-winning campaign in 2019/20.
He shouldn’t be the one Bayern player Liverpool are targeting nonetheless, with centre-back Dayot Upamecano, who can be out of contract next summer, on their shortlist.
For now, Slot can be aiming to get his side back to winning ways when Liverpool host Nottingham Forest on November 22.
