Skyrim Revoiced Is a Recent Mod Featuring NPC Voiceovers by Veteran Voice Actors

Someone has taken on the more difficult task of replacing the more generic voiceovers in Skyrim with those of other skilled voice actors. So stop me if you happen to’ve heard this one before. Someone has released a mod for Skyrim, and there you go, because we’ve all heard this a thousand times over, but how often have we heard of somebody hiring voice actors to re-voice NPCs in the sport? Well, that’s exactly what Nexus Mod member “spdude” has and is doing with their Skyrim Revoiced project. They’d previously announced one other similar project called Skyrim Vocal Diversity, which used AI to vary the pitch and other characteristics of the unique voiceovers, but (as spotted by DSOG) have since moved on to using human actors to record recent lines for various NPCs.

“Vanilla Skyrim has good voice acting, but Bethesda only used a comparatively small pool of voice actors to voice over greater than a 1000 characters in Skyrim. When walking through any city, it’s common to listen to the identical voices coming from multiple characters. Skyrim Revoiced goals to vary that. Due to the exertions of a talented team of voice actors, Skyrim Revoiced introduces 8 recent voice types for 48 NPCs across Skyrim, covering over 5000+ lines of each vanilla and modded dialogue.”

Skyrim Revoiced is claimed to be a long-term project, and the writer has a Patreon link for many who want to contribute to the project, as they’re paying voice actors for his or her work. Below is a listing of those that have already participated and the roles they voiced.

Ambitious doesn’t quite describe what this person has done, but many a gamer can appreciate the trouble in adding some more flavor to what will be bland in terms of the 1000s of voiceovers in an RPG. Whether it’s your first playthrough, or tenth or more, it doesn’t take a complete lot to start out recognizing what number of NPCs begin to sound the identical, so hats off to this writer for his or her ongoing efforts.
