Wicked: For Good has been called Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s “goodbye” to the characters Elphaba and Glinda, but is there a probability fans might see them again in a 3rd movie?
Director Jon M. Chu was asked by Telemundo’s Irasema Torres on the sequel’s São Paulo, Brazil, premiere in November 2025 if he was considering potential spinoffs.
“So far as I do know, this was at all times meant to be a two-movie experience,” he said of the potential for a 3rd film. Nonetheless, Chu did give fans a small glimmer of hope a few future Oz-related project, adding, “Listen, you never know.”
Wicked: For Good continues the musical tale of Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande), because the people of Oz rise against the previous, testing the protagonists’ friendship and morals in the method. The film features two recent songs, “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl within the Bubble,” performed by Erivo and Grande, respectively, and is already generating Oscar buzz.
It’s been an unforgettable era of Grande’s life, made all of the more special by the friendships she formed together with her costars along the best way.
“It’s been such an incredible ride and an incredible experience to create with people we love a lot and respect a lot creatively, but in addition who just have such great hearts,” Grande told E! News’ Justin Sylvester ahead of the film’s November 21, 2025, release, adding that fans would “finally give you the option to get the total story” and the “full arc of those women that we love a lot and have spent these years with.”

A moderator chimed in to ask, “Was that a confirmation of Wicked 3 just now?” to which Grande responded, “No, no, I don’t know. I mean, initially, I do know that there’s a terrific peace that’s coming together with this coming out and I believe there’s a peace that’s felt, because people will finally get to know the total truth of those women.”
