Could Islam Makhachev’s next opponent be decided at UFC Qatar?

Ian Machado Garry has aspirations of difficult for the Dagestani’s newly acquired welterweight gold in 2026, and he believes an emphatic victory on Saturday will secure him that probability.

Before Arman Tsarukyan and Dan Hooker headline UFC Qatar, Garry will share the Octagon in Doha with former 170-pound king Belal Muhammad. ‘The Future’ is confident of creating it back-to-back wins and leapfrogging the opposite names vying for a championship opportunity within the division.

Should that come to fruition, the Irishman has already been excited about what he can do to spice up his probabilities against the unstoppable Makhachev. And Garry has landed at one thing — the country of Georgia.

Garry has rejected Makhachev’s plan to fight Kamaru Usman next and firmly expects to place in a UFC Qatar display that earns him the shot.

When he does secure a matchup with the brand new champ, the Dublin native plans to employ the people of Georgia to assist.

“I swear to God, yesterday I spoke to my wife about coming to Georgia,” Garry said during a fight week interview with Setanta Sports in Qatar.

“After I fight Islam Makhachev…all of the Georgians on the market, I would like help. I’m gonna want your help.

“So I’m going to come back to Georgia,” he continued. “I would like help, and I would like bodies to assist me prepare and beat Islam Makhachev.

“So Georgia, my brothers, I’ll see you soon.”

One Georgian wrestler already has experience getting the higher of a giant name from the Dagestani team. Merab Dvalishvili beat Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311 this past January to stay bantamweight champ.

Ian Machado Garry predicted Jack Della Maddalena would KO Islam Makhachev

After the UFC 322 fundamental event, Garry slammed Della Maddalena’s performance, describing it as one in every of the worst title defenses of all time.

The fight playing out that way would have come as a surprise to the Irishman, given how he had broken down the matchup a few months prior.

Garry predicted Della Maddalena would knock out Makhachev in Recent York City.

“Islam is phenomenal all over the place, and he is barely convalescing all over the place, but so is Jack,” Garry told MMA Knockout.

“And I just feel like the scale difference, ‘JDM’ couldn’t physically make 155lbs, and I genuinely imagine, I feel JDM has the chance to exit here and knock Islam out,” he added.
