Mikel Arteta’s side have finished as runners-up prior to now seasons, but now look in a commanding position to finally recover from the road and end their long-running league drought.
Defending champions Liverpool look a great distance off he pace, with an alarming 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest meaning Arne Slot’s side have now lost six of their last seven games within the league.

With City and Liverpool trailing by seven and 11 points respectively, it’s, in truth, Chelsea who’re currently Arsenal’s closest challengers in second place.
Enzo Maresca’s made it three wins and three clean sheets on the bounce with a 2-0 away win at Burnley on Saturday, and have the possibility to essentially throw their hat into the combination as contenders after they host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

And Terry believes that his former side appear to be the one team able to difficult the Gunners for the title at present.
‘A giant game on the weekend now as Arsenal come to the Bridge where it’s going to be a really big game,’ Terry said in a video on TikTok.
‘I’m not saying it’s going to be a title decider but I believe it’s going to be one among the 2 teams [who win the league].
‘For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. Liverpool look they’re really struggling in the meanwhile.’

Speaking about Chelsea’s hard-fought win over Burnley, he added: ‘A superb away from the boys, really necessary to select up the three points, especially after sustaining a bit little bit of pressure in the primary half from Burnley.
‘I said they might try to hit us on the counterattack they usually definitely did that in the primary half and we had three unbelievable blocks defensively.
‘I believe the one thing for me within the second half we probably needed to take our possibilities, espeically once we come up against the larger and higher sides.’

While Terry has hope for his former side, not everyone seems to be convinced, with Gary Neville still confident that Chelsea will fade away from contention because the season drags on.
He told Sky Sports: ‘That can be really interesting for Chelsea next week and a very good measure for them. What we’ll see with Chelsea throughout the season is that they’ll win lots of football matches that we expect they need to do.
‘They’ll tease us they usually’ll get close but then they may drop points and perhaps drop right down to fifth or sixth after which come as much as fourth.
‘That’s where we’ll see them move between sixth and second and third and that where we’ll see Chelsea operate within the season.
‘Champions League football, they’ve got quite lots of young players, they’ve spent a fortune so it’s probably not happening as quickly as they need to I don’t think they’re anywhere near a team that may win the league yet. They give the impression of being well short in a few areas.
‘But they’re good, they’re a very good team. They usually are not a fantastic side, I don’t think they’ve got great players.
‘They’re a very good team with a very good squad and must be with the investment they’ve made and I believe they may finish in the highest 4.
‘They are going to get close they usually’ll tease us and have us pondering are they the closest challengers but I don’t think that may emerge because the season goes on. But next weekend is an actual tough test and that’s where you discover out about these kind of teams.
‘Chelsea will need to win the title in the subsequent couple of years but they don’t seem near it at this moment.’
