Kandi Burruss Talks Thanksgiving Plans Amid Todd Tucker Divorce

Kandi Burruss is keeping it 100% in regards to the hardships of divorce, especially with the vacation season approaching. She filed on Friday (Nov. 21) to finish her 11-year marriage to Todd Tucker, reportedly following several months of separation. Over the weekend, she answered fan questions on Amazon Live, which included several about her split and what’s next. Despite reports of an “amicable” split, Kandi Burruss told fans the previous few days have been rough.

‘RHOA’ Star Says She’s “Going Through It” After Divorce From Todd Tucker

Kandi Burruss didn’t beat across the bush when asked how she’s handling her divorce petition. The singer said it’s been a “pretty crazy time” since filing the official paperwork.

“I’m going to be very honest with you. I’m up and down,” Kandi Burruss responded to a fan query in regards to the divorce. She identified that “going through a divorce is certainly not the best thing.”

The multi-talent admitted that sometimes divorcees feel cool, and other times there’s “moments of sadness.” While starring on reality TV, Kandi said she couldn’t hide her life, but now she goals to handle the divorce privately.

“In real life, in my on a regular basis life, I actually don’t like those moments to be shared with the world. But I’m sharing with my Amazon family today — I’m up and down,” she said throughout the Amazon Live.

While the paperwork is recent, Kandi Burruss clarified that the divorce “is something that has been brewing for some time.” She admitted that while she’s been smiling in public, it means nothing because behind closed doors she’s been “going through it” and life has been “life-ing” her. So far as online narratives in regards to the split, Kandi said: “Sometimes things just don’t work out. It just is what it’s.” In keeping with PEOPLE, the singer also confirmed that she and Todd can be spending Thanksgiving together for the sake of their nine-year-old and six-year-old kids.

“We’re parents together. We’re co-parenting together,” Burruss said throughout the Amazon Live. “Now we have beautiful children together, so we try to make this transition as smooth because it could possibly be for our youngsters. That’s our principal concern. We’re keeping it very friendly.”

What Else Has Kandi Burruss Said About Her Divorce? 

Burruss exclusively told PEOPLE that filing for divorce was a troublesome selection. Nonetheless, the couple, she said, is committed to co-parenting their kids amicably. Kandi and Todd share two kids. Their son Ace was born in January 2016, while their daughter Blaze arrived via surrogate in November 2019. They each have adult daughters from previous relationships.

“After deep thought and quite a lot of prayer, I’ve made the choice to maneuver forward with a divorce. It is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus stays on protecting my peace, being the perfect mother I will be, and co-parenting with love and respect,” Kandi Burruss told PEOPLE.

She said this next chapter can be about pouring into her work, family, and own growth. “I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family,” Burruss added.

While Kandi has been open in regards to the divorce, fans of the longtime couple haven’t yet heard from Todd Tucker. Nonetheless, sooner or later after the singer filed her petition, the parents linked as much as have a good time Blaze’s sixth birthday.

Kandi Prepares For Broadway Return As Todd Tucker Signs Producing Deal 

Despite the connection reaching its end, business continues to be booming for Kandi and Todd Tucker! Identical to their child custody terms, it’s unclear how their shared ventures can be divided. Within the last decade, they co-founded several businesses, including restaurants and a trucking company. Two of their eateries, Old Lady Gang and Blaze, are closed permanently. Kandi has reportedly been dropped from the lawsuit as a defendant since being filed within the spring.

Independently, Kandi Burruss filed for divorce with just weeks away from starring on Broadway within the musical, ‘& Juliet.’ She first announced the stage return in October. She’ll be acting from December until March because the character Angélique.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to return to the Broadway stage on this incredible musical,” Burruss said. “As a songwriter myself, I’m such a fan of Max Martin’s genius mind, and to get to return back to Broadway on this joyful musical that celebrates his catalog is a dream come true,” she said in October.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Todd flooded his Instagram Story with photos of a lounge space and a brand new podcast promo. The next day, TheJasmineBrand reported that Tucker had signed on as a producer for the ladies’s sports podcast, ‘The PlayHER Lounge.
