Toonz Media Group CEO P. Jayakumar is stepping down from his role after greater than 26 years on the helm of the Indian animation studio, effective Nov. 30.
During his tenure, Jayakumar transformed Toonz from a pioneering Indian animation studio into a worldwide entertainment player specializing in kids and family content. The corporate expanded its operations internationally, establishing studios and offices across India, Ireland, Spain and Recent Zealand.
“Leading Toonz has been some of the fulfilling experiences of my life,” Jayakumar said in an announcement. “What began as a dream shared by a small, passionate team has today grown into a worldwide powerhouse of creativity and storytelling.”
The outgoing CEO expressed gratitude to the corporate’s team and international partners while indicating plans to pursue a brand new enterprise. “While I step down from my current role, I’ll all the time remain emotionally connected to Toonz. In the approaching months, I intend to embark on a brand new enterprise that continues my lifelong passion for creativity and collaboration in the worldwide entertainment space,” he said.
To facilitate the transition, Jayakumar has been working with Viswanath Rao, the group’s acting CEO, and Karthik V. Kumar, who was recently appointed as finance director and board member of Toonz Animation India.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, Toonz Media Group has produced and distributed 1000’s of hours of animated content, collaborating with major studios, broadcasters and streaming platforms worldwide. The corporate focuses on animation, VFX and digital content targeting kids and family audiences.
Current Toonz projects include “Recent-Gen Nanobot Heroes” and “Hangry Petz.”
