Jessie J became emotional on stage as she introduced a song inspired by her 2021 pregnancy loss.
The singer, 37, broke down on stage on Thursday, November 28 as she commemorated 4 years since she suffered a miscarriage, per footage shared by The Every day Mail.
Introducing her recent track, “Is available in Waves,” Jessie (real name Jessica Ellen Cornish) became visibly emotional as she explained to the audience that the song was inspired by her own pregnancy loss and grief.
“Today marks 4 years that I lost my baby,” Jessie told the audience, per the video footage. “I don’t know if anyone has passed through the identical thing, but when you could have, or you realize someone near you and also you saw it, it’s really f**ing bad.”
She added, “It’s something that you may’t ever really prepare to undergo. This song is for anybody that needs that hug. I hope this song can enable you to because it’s helped me.”
The “Price Tag” singer previously spoke candidly about her miscarriage experience during a May 2022 episode of “The Diary of a CEO With Steven Bartlett” podcast.
Jessie explained how she felt after being told by doctors in November 2021 that her baby’s heart was now not beating.
“I remember just going home and never processing it,” she recalled.
Jessie shared that the “worst moment of the entire experience” was the sense of loneliness she felt alongside the grief and loss.
“I felt like I’d been given all the things I’d ever wanted after which someone had gone, ‘But you may’t have it,’” she said on the podcast. “I’ve never felt so lonely in my life.”

In 2021, Jessie had not yet publicly revealed she was pregnant after deciding to have a baby on her own, but ultimately decided to post on social media about her miscarriage.
“💔 Yesterday morning I used to be laughing with a friend saying ‘Seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the entire audience I’m pregnant,’” Jessie captioned an Instagram selfie with a pregnancy test on November 24. “By yesterday afternoon I used to be dreading the considered getting through the gig without breaking down… After going for my third scan and being told there was now not a heartbeat 💔.”
She further detailed her grief, adding, “I made a decision to have a baby alone. Since it’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is brief. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I’ll always remember and I do know I may have again. I’m still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I do know I’m strong, and I do know I shall be okay.”
Following her miscarriage, Jessie began dating basketball player Chanan Colman. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Sky, in May 2023.
“Every week ago my whole life modified,” Jessie wrote via an Instagram Story on the time. “My son entered this world and my heart grew twice the scale. The sensation is indescribable [and] I’m flying in love. He’s magic. He’s all my dreams come true [and] he’s my whole 🌍.”
“He and I are each doing great. I’m absorbing every second and still can’t consider he’s real, here and mine. I’m so grateful.”
