Diogo Dalot has sought to brush aside criticism from Ruben Amorim after the Manchester United boss recently said he and Patrick Dorgu were playing ‘removed from the very best’.
Dalot has been a priceless member of Amorim’s squad because the Portguese coach’s arrival from Sporting Libson midway through last season.
The 26-year-old has began nine Premier League matches up to now this season, along with his versatility seeing him deployed in each wing-back roles in United’s 3-4-2-1 system.
Dalot scored his first goal of the season in United’s midweek draw with West Ham, but Amorim has steadily made clear that he still expects more from the Portuguese international, in addition to fellow wing-back Patrick Dorgu.
‘Once I see them training, they’re doing so significantly better than in games,’ Amorim said of Dalot and Dorgu late last month.

‘They’re removed from the very best and so they understand it. So like a whole lot of players in our team, like myself, so I just take a look at them and so they have so way more to offer.’
When asked about Amorim’s comments ahead of United’s trip to Wolves, Dalot admitted he must all the time seek to enhance, but didn’t think his manager was singling him out.

‘I feel it’s something basically,’ Dalot said of Amorim’s comments. ‘He may very well be talking about me but I feel he may very well be talking about everyone on the club.
‘We all the time have to search out ways to enhance ourselves, be more consistent. We’re in a team where you’re nearly as good as your last game.
‘So, you only need to know that it is a sort of pressure for a giant club like Man Utd.
‘Fortunately, I’m here long enough to grasp how it really works and discover a method to help the team. I feel that’s the aim for everyone.’

The Red Devils have lost just certainly one of their last eight league games, but disappointing home performances against Everton and West Ham sees them languishing in twelfth ahead of Monday’s game.
And Dalot said he and his teammates have to turn out to be more ‘obsessed’ in the event that they are to actually kick on under Amorim this season.
‘I feel we’d like to turn out to be a bit more obsessed about playing for this club, winning games and winning trophies for this club. However it’s a process,’ he said.
‘I’m not going to get into the ‘we’d like time’ thing. I feel now we have to win immediately because that’s what the club demands.
‘That’s why it hurts sometimes much more when now we have opportunities like this (against West Ham) and we don’t win.
‘Even after winning three or 4 games in a row, people will expect you to win 5 or 6 or seven. So, we just need to concentrate on one game, one win on the time.
‘(Against West Ham) we had an excellent probability to catch up with to the highest positions and I feel that’s what hurts much more.’
