Following a disappointing loss in Las Vegas this past weekend, Brandon Moreno has broken his silence.
This past weekend at UFC 323, former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno looked to get back into title contention by making it three wins in a row against Tatsuro Taira.
Despite the Mexican’s plan, though, he was finished by the soaring Japanese contender who scored the second round finish, making it back-to-back wins.
Nonetheless, the stoppage was quite controversial as Moreno wasn’t unconscious and appeared to be defending himself when Mark Smith stepped in and stopped the fight.
Moreno bashes referee in statement following UFC 323 loss
On the time, even the UFC broadcast team of Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan questioned the stoppage, claiming that it got here early.
And now just a couple of days faraway from the fight, ‘The Assassin Baby’ has broken his silence, questioning the referee’s stoppage of what he has labeled ‘an odd fight’.
“Hey guys, how are you? Just here to inform you guys that I’m okay and that every part is great,” Moreno said in a post on his Instagram.
“I didn’t post anything yesterday since it was my birthday and I desired to have an excellent time and spend time with my family… I just desired to inform you guys that I’m okay.
“Reflecting on the fight, who knows, but me personally, I feel the referee stopped the fight too soon. But possibly I’d be there taking extra punishment, or possibly I’d’ve escaped and pulled off the comeback. You never know. It was a extremely strange fight,” he continued.
It’s unclear where Moreno goes from here, nonetheless, at just 32 years old, he has time to rebound and potentially re-enter the title conversation in some unspecified time in the future, especially due to his popularity amongst the UFC fanbase.

Taira may very well be set for UFC flyweight title fight next
Within the co-main event of UFC 323, the flyweight title modified hands when Alexandre Pantoja suffered a brutal injury against Joshua Van, rendering him unable to proceed within the opening minute of the fight.
And due to the brutality of the injury, despite it being likely that Pantoja will fight for the title again in his return, Van will likely defend his title against another person first.
With Taira having picked up such a powerful win, Cormier pitched that Van vs Taira should happen as soon as possible, pitting two of essentially the most exciting prospects in the game against one another.
