Smriti Mandhana called off her marriage to Palash Muchhal, urging privacy and specializing in cricket. She recently led India to a World Cup win as vice-captain and top run-scorer.

Indian women’s team batter Smriti Mandhana has been going through personal turmoil currently. Her marriage to music composer Palash Muchhal, which garnered massive attention, was finally called off because the Indian vice-captain made the announcement via a social media post. A day later, she even modified her Instagram bio and removed the evil eye emoji.
Mandhana announced on Sunday that the marriage had been called off and urged fans and the media to stop speculating. Muchhal, meanwhile, confirmed that he had “decided to maneuver on” and warned of legal motion against those spreading rumours.
This was Mandhana’s first public statement after a month of speculation over her personal life. She was to marry Muchhal on November 23, however the ceremony was postponed after her father, Shriniwas, was hospitalised with a heart ailment.
“I want to make clear that the marriage is known as off. I would love to shut this matter here and implore all of you to do the identical,” she wrote, adding that although she is a “very private person”, the rising speculation pushed her to talk publicly.
She said her focus stays firmly on cricket as India prepares for the upcoming international season. “I consider there’s the next purpose driving us all… For me, that has at all times been representing my country at the best level.”
Meanwhile, Mandhana has returned to cricket practice. Her brother, Shravan, shared a story on Instagram showing Mandhana in her cricket gear at a net session.

Mandhana only recently won the World Cup win India, playing a key role within the tournament because the team’s highest run-scorer. Because the vice-captain, she repeatedly took responsibility for getting the team off to a great start, while also marshalling the likes of Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma alongside her.
