Jeannie Mai Shares Heartwarming Moment With Monaco Jenkins
Over the weekend, Mai took to her Instagram account to share a clip that showed her daughter seated on her lap. Moreover, Monaco’s hands were placed on Mai’s cheek.
“It happened last night. After an extended day of college visits, park time, and juggling work, Coco and I finally sat down for dinner. I hadn’t realized until then that it was my first real meal of the day. I didn’t see it coming.
Coco turned toward me—she placed her palms on my cheeks and brought my eyes to hers. Very slowly, very deliberately, she whispered into me: You’re incredible. You’re worthy. You’re my dream (“dweem” 😭) come true,” Mai wrote within the caption of the post.
Ultimately, Jeannie Mai revealed that Monaco “pressed a kiss” to her cheek and brow, then surprised her by saying, “I like you… my daughter.”
“and something ancient in me cracked open. Because these are the words I’ve given her since she was every week old—but guys, only when she was sleeping. Some nights I barely breathed them above a whisper, some nights I only thought them, simply to not wake her or because I used to be falling asleep. These were prayers, never meant for her to listen to. But here she was, repeating each back to me— even all the way down to the ‘daughter,’ as if she had absorbed my devotion into her bones and was now returning it from a spot deeper than memory,” Mai continued within the caption.
Mai explained that in that moment, Monaco “mothered” her “back.”
“Last night, love traveled the circle it needed to complete… one way or the other, my daughter knew the language my younger self still waited to listen to. Perhaps that is what healing really is: not erasing what happened,
but letting love arrive through the very child who inherited your courage to maintain going🙏🏽 So..pray over your babies once they sleep. They. Are. Listening,” Mai concluded.
