‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011)
Since Wake Up Dead Man is playing on a rival streamer, it’s price looking back at Daniel Craig‘s lead performance in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Craig had a really different persona as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who has recently been disgraced by a libel suit that will destroy his profession. Businessman Henrik Vange (Christopher Plummer) could have the evidence that Mikael must exonerate himself, but first, he wants Blomkvist to resolve a mystery that’s haunted his family for a long time.
That’s where the title character, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), enters the story like a force of nature. Lisbeth is a preternaturally gifted hacker, but that’s not what makes her special. Mikael recruits Lisbeth for his case because she has a superb analytical mind and a ruthless streak that serves her well when going up against some truly evil men. The query isn’t whether Mikael and Lisbeth will solve the mystery — it’s whether or not they’ll survive an encounter with a killer.
