JD McDonagh Recovering From Surgery, Shares Return Window

WWE RAW Superstar JD McDonagh will probably be taking a break from the ring after the previous World Tag Team Champion’s recent hand surgery.

On social media, McDonagh shared that he could be putting the brakes on his profession for now and suggested that he had been injured for months. He wrote,

“Been working thru some stuff for the previous few months, but now could be the time to pump the brakes and get put back together. Won’t be long, BRB [Be Right Back.]”

That is the newest setback for the ‘Irish Ace’, who sustained broken ribs and a punctured lung during an episode of WWE RAW in January 2025.

Despite the injury on RAW, McDonagh finished the match, earning praise from many, including those inside WWE.

The 35-year-old from Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, debuted in WWE in December 2016 as a part of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament.

McDonagh is a two-time former World Tag Team Champion (each with Finn Balor), a former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, and a Slammy Award winner.
