Joe Rogan thinks just one man could stop the difficulty in store for the UFC heavyweight division.
The prospect on everyone’s lips ahead of the brand new 12 months is Gable Steveson, the 2020 Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling who’s being tipped for major success in mixed martial arts.
He’s rattled off a lot of quick victories in recent months, including two in MMA to kickstart his profession within the cage and one under the Dirty Boxing banner.
Having shown his speed, power, and athleticism, many predict Steveson to sign for the UFC and make a fast ascent to the highest. Rogan recently highlighted the one man with the talents to stop that from happening.

Since his time within the WWE got here to an end and he decided to pursue a profession in MMA, Steveson has been training with Jon Jones. The previous heavyweight and lightweight heavyweight champion is widely seen as a number one contender within the GOAT debate.
The Rochester native is half-a-year on from the top of his reign but is targeting a comeback to fight Alex Pereira on the White House in 2026.
While Jones is undoubtedly on the back end of his profession and should not even return if Dana White continues to reject his comeback plans, Rogan sees him because the only heavyweight with the wrestling capabilities to challenge his protege.
“(Steveson’s) perhaps even higher (than Daniel Cormier),” the UFC commentator said during an episode of his podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience. “And larger, loads greater.
“He’s a freak, man. And he’s training with Jon Jones… He’s coming, and so they are all in trouble.
“There’s no — apart from Jon, there’s nobody that might wrestle with that guy in that sport.
“The thing a couple of guy that may wrestle like that is that if he can strike like that (too), the issue with wrestling is you’re at all times apprehensive in regards to the takedown, in order that opens you as much as strikes!
“The speed that guy has, it’s a lethal combination of athleticism, speed, power, size, and insane wrestling pedigree.”

Gable Steveson shares this attribute with UFC legend Jon Jones
Along with his work with Jones, Steveson’s fundamental coach is Greg Jackson, who has overseen much of the UFC GOAT’s profession within the cage.
Speaking backstage at Anthony Pettis FC 21, where the wrestling specialist recorded an insane 24-second knockout, Jackson compared Steveson to Jones and highlighted one attribute that the prospect shares together with his legendary teammate.
“Gable does remind me of a young Jon Jones of their creativity,” Jackson said.
“Very different body styles, right? Jon’s very tall and Gable’s a little bit shorter. Gable hits with a number of power but they’re each incredibly creative.
“I believe that’s their type of commonality and I believe that’s what Jon is absolutely attempting to impart into Gable, to take into consideration all these various things and these different avenues,” he added.
“I mean, he hit a left hook and a double leg at the identical time. That’ll show you ways creative this guy is.”
