Former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has stated that the International Cricket Council (ICC) would turn into “unnecessary” if it fails to handle the present “dominance” of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) in its operations.
Chatting with the media at an event, Ajmal remarked that the ICC should stop its activities if it cannot make “unbiased and principled decisions in the general interest of world cricket.”
“If the ICC can’t implement its decisions on the Indian board, then its very existence is unnecessary,” he asserted.
Ajmal claimed that the vast majority of Test-playing nations shared this view but were unwilling to publicly voice their opinions.
He highlighted the ICC’s agreement to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan, even in global tournaments, as a transparent example of the organisation’s “helplessness.”
“There isn’t a logical reason for India to not play in Pakistan however the ICC is helpless since it is dominated by Indians now,” he alleged.
India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan stems from security concerns and the Indian government’s decision to ban bilateral sports between the 2 countries.
In consequence, India-Pakistan cricket is proscribed to ICC white-ball events, held only at neutral venues.
Last 12 months, India-Pakistan bilateral ties deteriorated significantly following the Pahalgam terror attack, which led to a transient military confrontation.
The ICC is currently led by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
India Vs Pakistan Match In 2026?
India and Pakistan will face-off again on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, starting on February 7. One in all the tournament’s most eagerly awaited fixtures is the India-Pakistan clash, scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Given the tournament structure, a repeat encounter later within the competition is feasible if each teams advance deep into the knockout rounds. Historically, India have enjoyed overwhelming dominance over Pakistan in T20 World Cup meetings, with Pakistan managing only a single victory against India within the competition’s history.
