Ruben Amorim has been tipped for a swift return to Premier League management after his Manchester United sacking.

Amorim lost his job at Old Trafford last week following more unconvincing results on the pitch and a bust-up with United director of football Jason Wilcox.

The 40-year-old had a powerful popularity before his arrival in Manchester, having led Sporting to 2 Portuguese league titles.

But his 14-month reign as United boss was hugely disappointing, with the Red Devils ending just fifteenth within the Premier League last season and continuing to flatter to deceive this term.

Amorim has returned to Portugal since his dismissal but ex-England defender Sol Campbell reckons he could soon be making his way back to the Premier League.

Campbell believes Amorim can be the ‘ideal manager’ to interchange struggling Tottenham boss Thomas Frank and has even claimed they’re ‘probably’ already in talks.

Frank is desperately fighting to save lots of his job in north London with Spurs winning just one among their six league games to slide to 14th within the Premier League.

The FA Cup didn’t improve the mood, with Tottenham losing to Aston Villa within the third round to exit the competition on the earliest possible opportunity.

Asked who can be the best manager to potentially replace Frank at Spurs, former Tottenham defender Campbell told Sky Bet: ‘Ruben Amorim.

‘They’ll be taking a look at him. They’re probably talking to him now, that wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t think he’ll return to Portugal.

‘Tottenham will be talking to him to see if there’s any situation happening – there’ll be people talking behind the scenes.

‘Thomas Frank is a top manager, but he’s not at Brentford anymore – it’s a unique animal. Tottenham is a giant club and persons are demanding.

‘They need success they usually need to keep moving forward in a successful way. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re talking to other managers.

‘Obviously, if he starts turning it around and winning games and having good performances, that helps.

‘Sometimes you don’t have to win, but in case you can have good performances and show you’re moving in the precise direction, that can assist.

‘But they are going to be talking to other managers. It’s part and parcel until you show who you’re and begin winning frequently.’

Campbell added on Frank: ‘He’s come from Brentford to Tottenham Hotspur, and it doesn’t matter where you’ve come from.

‘While you arrive at a club like that, it’s about the way you conduct yourself and the way you absorb pressure coming from all angles.

‘He’s probably never felt this sort of football pressure before. Pressure exists all over the place at the best level, but at Tottenham it comes at you in other ways.

‘You should take care of it, move on from it, fight through it, and be clever in the way you speak and manage situations – with players, the hierarchy and the fans. There’s so much happening.

‘You should be ready for it. It is advisable to be many things directly: a statesman, a fighter, someone who desires to play attractive football, rise up for who you’re, but additionally show understanding.

‘At Tottenham, you should balance all of that, and he’s probably discovering pressures he never expected.

‘Results change every little thing, but you wish the precise squad, the precise mentality, every little thing in place. It is advisable to play top football.

‘It is advisable to spot the danger in a short time at a club like Tottenham and ward it off quickly – not only on the sector, off the sector as well.’

While Campbell has tipped Amorim for a right away Premier League return, he believes the Portuguese acted ‘naively’ during his time in control of Manchester United.

‘How naive of Ruben Amorim… unless you win on an everyday basis – you’re not going to get control,’ he said.

‘Those days are sort of gone. Those days of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger controlling absolutely every little thing are gone. He would have known that.

‘He didn’t realise how massive Manchester United is. It’s a big club. It’s one among the most important, iconic clubs on the earth. How are you going to manage that? That’s nonsense.

‘First off, you’ve got to grasp the people, the fans, the history, things like that. It’s very hard, and also you can’t import stuff in.

‘You’ve just got to grasp that club, that city, what it means, the frequency of the club. You’ve got to leap in, immerse yourself with it.

‘And at the identical time, you’ve got to win. Manchester United is all about winning. Successful club, huge history.

‘You can’t be saying those things – it’s a bit naive, because you’re not in Portugal anymore. You’re in England and you’re at one among the most important clubs on the earth.’
