Devine opened the innings for Gujarat Giants in Match No. 4 of WPL 2026 and, with the assistance of seven fours and eight sixes, scored 95 runs from 42 balls.

Legendary Latest Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine hammered 95 runs from just 42 balls on Sunday (January 11) after which successfully defended 7 runs in the ultimate over of the match to seal a memorable win by 4 runs for Gujarat Giants within the fourth league match of WPL 2026 played against Delhi Capitals on the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Devine made a mockery of DC bowlers after their skipper Jemimah Rodrigues invited the Ahmedabad-based franchise to bat first.
During her stay on the crease, Devine, who was previously related to Royal Challengers Bengaluru within the WPL, hammered 7 fours and eight sixes. She added 94 runs in only 49 balls for the primary wicket with Beth Mooney, who made 19 runs from 16 balls, and 32 runs from 15 balls for the second wicket with Ashleigh Gardner (49 runs from 26 balls).
Within the sixth over of GG’s innings, Devine hammered DC all-rounder Sneh Rana for 32 runs. She scored back-to-back fours on the primary two balls after which tonked 4 sixes in a row.
Sophie was unlucky to miss out on a deserving century, but her super show with the bat helped GG post a complete of 209 runs on the board.
After impressing along with her batting, Devine was given the responsibility to bowl the last over of the match, by which DC needed just 7 runs to win. She conceded one run on the primary ball of the over but on the second picked up DC skipper Jemimah’s wicket. The fitting-handed batter was caught by wicketkeeper Beth Mooney after scoring 15 runs from 9 balls.
Sophie bowled a dot ball against Marizanne Kapp after which conceded one run on the fourth ball, which brought the equation right down to 5 required from 2 balls.
South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt (77 runs from 38 balls) decided to take an aerial path to seal the sport for her side, but she got caught by Georgia Wareham contained in the ropes. Sneh walked out to bat at No. 7 for Delhi Capitals and was on strike within the last ball of the match, but she didn’t connect with the ball, and DC suffered a defeat by 4 runs.
Sophie’s super show with the bat and ball on Sunday helped her bag the Player Of The Match (POTM) award, and she or he now also tops the list of batters with probably the most runs in WPL 2026.

Aside from Sophie, GG skipper Ashleigh Gardner played an outstanding knock of 49 runs from 26 balls on Sunday. The legendary Australian all-rounder, who was retained by GG for Rs 3.50 crore ahead of the WPL 2026 mega auction, hammered 4 fours and three sixes during her stay on the crease.
For Delhi Capitals, medium pacer Nandini Sharma picked up five wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. The 24-year-old cricketer from Chandigarh, who made her WPL debut on January 10, 2026, also took a hat-trick within the last over of GG’s innings.
Within the batting for Delhi Capitals, opener and wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee scored 86 runs from 54 balls (12 fours and three sixes), and No. 3 batter Wolvaardt hammered 77 runs from just 38 balls (9 fours and three sixes).
