Veteran actor Rajendra Chawla, who has left an enduring impression together with his work across movies and tv, has been a component of several notable projects, including MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Freedom At Midnight, and diverse acclaimed TV shows. Known for his grounded performances and thoughtful outlook on life and cinema, Chawla recently opened up in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble about working with the late Sushant Singh Rajput, handling pressure within the industry, and his personal philosophy toward fame and stress. Read on to know every thing he shared.
Rajendra Chawla On Working With Sushant Singh Rajput
Talking about his experience on the sets of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Rajendra Chawla recalled how focused and immersed the forged was, especially Sushant Singh Rajput. Sharing an anecdote from the initial days of the shoot, he said, “Wo mera us film ka pehle ya dusra din tha, toh sab apne apne kirdaaro mein khoye hue they. Sab kone mein jaake apna character talaash rahe the.”
He added that while they worked together for a brief period, interactions were limited because of the extreme preparation involved. “Do din humne saath kaam kiya, lekin itna interaction nahi hua, kyunki wo apne aap mein hi bohot busy the, apne character ke nuance pakdne mein busy the.” Despite that, Chawla remembered the atmosphere fondly, noting, “Lekin ek cordial relationship un do din mein raha.”
Rajendra Chawla On Pressure In The Industry
Speaking about pressure and the constant mental load actors often carry, Rajendra Chawla offered a refreshing and philosophical perspective. He explained, “Pressure lene par hai. Kayi baar aap bohot zyada yahi apne baare mein sochne lag jaate hai.” Recalling advice from a detailed friend, he shared, “Mera ek dost hai, uska ye mool mantra hai—‘agyaan param sukhkari.’ Bohot mat socho. Jo tumhare haath mein hi nahi hai, uske baare mein kyun soch rahe ho?”
He further reflected on the importance of emotional distance while performing, citing an example from theatre. “Dr. Sriram Laghu ek natak kar rahe the. Unko doctor ne salah di ki itna dil pe leke kaam mat kariye.” Elaborating on that thought, Chawla said, “Naatak ko, us kirdar ko humesha third person mein dekhne ki koshish kariye. Tab sukhi rahenge aap.”
Along with his honest recollections of Sushant Singh Rajput’s dedication and his own measured approach to fame and pressure, Rajendra Chawla once more highlights the quiet wisdom that comes from years of experience, each on and off the camera.
