Pakistan’s former fast bowler and ex-national selector Wahab Riaz has been appointed to supervise the national women’s squad during a white-ball series in South Africa next month.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that Wahab will mentor the team, assisted by a training staff including former players Imran Farhat and Abdul Rehman.
Fatima Sana will lead the ladies’s squad in each white-ball formats. This series marks the team’s first project since their disappointing performance within the ICC World Cup in India and Sri Lanka last November.
The team’s poor performance within the World Cup, where they finished last within the eight-team competition, led to the dismissal of former head coach Mohammad Wasim.
Wahab, who has been working in various capacities with the board for the past two years, has been overseeing the ladies’s training camp in Karachi.
The series will begin on February 10, with two uncapped players, Saira Jabeen and Humna Bilal, called as much as the T20I squad, while Ayesha Zafar, Gull Feroza, Tasmia Rubab, and Najiha Alvi return to the ODI team.
This series is a component of the preparations for the ICC Women’s T20I World Cup in June.
