Oliver Glasner has announced that he’s leaving Crystal Palace at the top of the season.

The 51-year-old joined Palace in February 2024 and guided the club to victory against Manchester City within the FA Cup final last season.

Glasner’s current cope with Palace expires at the top of the season and the Austrian revealed he informed the club’s chairman, Steve Parish, of his decision to maneuver on in October.

‘A choice has already been taken, months ago,’ Glasner revealed at his press conference on Friday.

‘I had a gathering with Steve [Parish] in October, the international break. We had a really long talk, and I told him I won’t sign a brand new contract.

‘We agreed on the time it was best to maintain it between us. It’s best that we could try this and keep it confidential for 3 months. I told the team today, because I feel now it’s necessary to have clarity.

‘We had a really busy schedule in order that’s why we didn’t need to discuss it. Steve and I would like the most effective for Crystal Palace.’

Glasner was also adamant that his decision has not been influenced by Palace’s decision to sell Marc Guehi to Manchester City.

‘I told Steve I’m just on the lookout for a brand new challenge. I told him in October, it’s nothing to do with the transfer window. I hate if something is written or said that shouldn’t be true, and it was very tough for me not to reply. Now we have an important relationship, and we’re all the time talking about what’s best for Crystal Palace,’ Glasner said.

‘I haven’t spoken to another club, I told the players that and promised them today I’ll give my best to offer the most effective season in Crystal Palace history. We at the moment are 4 points higher off than we were at this stage of the season and we’ll do all the pieces to bring one other trophy back to Selhurst Park.

‘We had the Conference League draw today, we’ll play Zrinjski Mostar from Bosnia within the play-off draw and I had a take a look at the draw tree, it’ll be quite interesting who we could play in our section.

‘I’ll do all the pieces to assist bring a trophy back to Selhurst Park and playing the most effective Premier League season ever, we’ve rather a lot to do.’

Meanwhile, Manchester City have now agreed a deal in principle to sign Marc Guehi from Palace.

‘My latest understanding is that a cope with Marc is in the ultimate stages,’ Glasner said.

‘I can’t confirm a club, since it’s still not done however it’s in the ultimate stages. The result’s that Marc doesn’t play tomorrow for us.

‘When the players need to move on a deal will occur. It looks prefer it has happened now.

‘Everyone wanted Marc to remain without end. I talked to him, in fact, it stays between us. Marc shown it in the summertime transfer window, shown it the entire autumn that he was 100 per cent committed to the team and to Crystal Palace.

‘I wish him all the most effective for the remaining of his profession. He remains to be firstly of his great profession. He’s a incredible guy.’
