World No. 2 ODI batter Daryl Mitchell now holds the record for scoring essentially the most runs in a three-match ODI series against the Indian team. The 34-year-old right-handed batter from Hamilton needed 128 runs in the continuing third ODI between India and Latest Zealand at Holkar Stadium in Indore to interrupt South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock’s record, and he achieved the target by taking a single on the second ball of the forty third over of Latest Zealand’s innings, which was bowled by Mohammed Siraj.
De Kock played three ODIs for South Africa against the Men in Blue in December 2013 and, with the assistance of three centuries, amassed a complete of 342 runs.
In the continuing series against India, Mitchell scored 84 runs in the primary match, which was played at BCA Stadium in Vadodara, and remained unbeaten on 131 within the second ODI at Rajkot on January 14. Within the series decider at Holkar Stadium in Indore, Mitchell played a knock of 137 runs from 131 balls. He was sent back to the pavilion by Mohammed Siraj. On the primary ball of the forty fifth over, Kuldeep Yadav accomplished Mitchell’s catch.
