WWE legend Booker T has high hopes for Oba Femi, stating that he could have a Goldberg-like run on the WWE major roster.
While speaking on his “Hall of Fame” show, Booker T asserted that he is not surprised by WWE’s decision to call-up Femi to the major roster, relinquishing his title on “NXT.” He thinks that the previous NXT Champion can go on an extended unbeaten run and dominate the major roster, very similar to Goldberg’s win streak in WCW.
“You bought to actually put those guys able lately to succeed and succeed properly, and a man like Oba Femi, you do not need to drop the ball with a man like that,” he said. “You wish to bring him in and you desire to bring him white hot, and I feel that is what they will do. I mean, I feel Oba Femi has the potential to go on considered one of those somewhat Goldberg runs, where he’s unbeatable until he gets to that one guy, you realize. It is a guy that may, you realize, get his first title shot and really win it once he gets on the major roster. So, I’m looking forward to seeing exactly what Oba does. Even his one match on the major roster for the championship, he didn’t lose it.”
Booker T believes that Femi must be put able to achieve success, and thinks that WWE is on the correct track to realize it. Femi has yet to look on “Raw” or “SmackDown” since relinquishing his title, but vignettes of his have aired on each brands, which have been lauded by many, including WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray. Meanwhile, a brand new NXT Champion can be crowned on February 3, in a 6-man ladder match.
