Matt Damon tells Joe Rogan how Jon Jones ‘ran through’ six UFC heavyweights after night of partying

Matt Damon was amazed when scrolling through social media to learn that Jon Jones once spent the night partying, only to beat up six heavyweight stars the following day.

The Hollywood superstar was Joe Rogan’s most up-to-date guest on his podcast, where he discussed his deep appreciation for fighting. They discussed quite a few topics, from his meeting with Henry Cejudo to changes that Rogan would make to the UFC’s current business model.

And one story saw Damon recall a video he had watched of Brendan Schaub telling a story from when he visited the UFC’s biggest ever fighter in camp. Based on the previous heavyweight, not only him but a slate of 5 other top fighters were handily handled.

Matt Damon recites Brendan Schaub’s famous Jon Jones story

As Joe Rogan and Matt Damon were discussing all-time great fighters, Damon recalled a story he had seen on social media about Jon Jones‘ legendary training sessions. While he didn’t know when he was telling it, the story was confirmed to be from Brendan Schaub.

“I saw a thing on my Instagram feed of a fighter and I don’t know who it was, but he was a heavyweight,” Damon said.

“And he goes ‘I had the possibility to spar with Jon Jones and to work with Jon Jones. I knew about it months ahead of time. I got my nutrition, every thing was absolutely flawless, I got, you realize, my sleep, every thing was on.’

“So he goes ‘I show up on the gym that morning, me and five other guys and [Jones] is available in, I feel he went to sleep at 4 within the morning or something’. He was out all night, and he goes, ‘he ran through us all.’

Rogan immediately recognized that as Schaub’s story, with the pair agreeing that it showed levels to the game. “Brendan was a top 10 heavyweight, and Jon wasn’t even a heavyweight,” the podcaster added. Jon was a light-weight heavyweight.
It was a lower weight class, and he just beat everybody’s a–.”

He also noted that one other wrinkle to Schaub’s story was that Jones’ warm-up for this gauntlet of star UFC fighters was to easily flail his arms for a bit before engaging.
