Danny Murphy believes Arsenal must be considered the favourites to win the Champions League this season and may only see one team standing of their way.

Mikel Arteta’s side have made a flawless begin to the competition this season and boast six wins from six games ahead of tonight’s test against Inter at San Siro.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have already been comprehensively beaten on the Emirates, while the Gunners have amassed 11 goals from games on the road against Sparta Prague, Athletic Bilbao and Club Brugge.

Arsenal are in a commanding position within the Premier League, too, but Murphy sees no reason why they aren’t able to securing a memorable double.

PSG knocked Arsenal out on the semi-final stage last season after two evenly contested legs and former Liverpool midfielder Murphy insists the French champions are the side the north London club should fear.

‘I believe when you offered Arsenal just the Premier League, they’d take it, but I also think they’re able to winning the Champions League,’ Murphy told Boyle Sports.

‘It’s going to be very difficult, though, because within the Champions League, you possibly can have one bad evening, or all the pieces goes against you, and also you’re out.

‘You possibly can even have an incredible performance and still not undergo because of penalty shootouts, bad decisions, or a sending off.

‘But watching them play as frequently as I even have, there’s no reason for them to not have the idea that they’ll win it. They’ve destroyed Bayern Munich, one in every of the opposite strong teams within the tournament. They’re playing higher than anyone else within the Premier League.

‘I don’t think the Spanish teams are as strong as they’ve been prior to now. If you take a look at what Liverpool did to Real Madrid, even when Liverpool weren’t playing well, and what Chelsea did to Barcelona. The one one which concerns me is PSG.

‘I believe once they get everyone fit, just like last season, they may have a very strong second half. When PSG are at it and playing at their best, that’s a troublesome challenge for anyone.

‘In order that they would probably be the opposite joint favourites with Arsenal in the mean time due to their experience and since they won it last yr.

‘But you may have to achieve for the celebs. If you’re at a giant club, you’re aiming to win all of it. I had an experience where we won a treble at Liverpool, not the ‘real’ treble, but there was still a belief within the camp that each time we went on the pitch, we could beat anybody. Whether or not it’s Barcelona within the semi-final or whoever, we truly believed it.

‘I believe Arsenal have that belief now. They appear like a confident group, they don’t look fearful. I do know there was a little bit of criticism after the Liverpool game, but they’d played numerous games, there was some fatigue, and Liverpool played well.

‘Liverpool have top-class players and kept the ball very well to stop Arsenal from getting on top of them. But overall, I believe they must be confident. They need to have real belief that they’ll win each.’
