Harry Styles Wasn’t There For The Pope
On May 7, 2025, hundreds of individuals gathered on the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square, all eagerly awaiting the Papal Conclave, the voting ceremony to elect a brand new Pope, to conclude. On May 8, Cardinal Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, was declared the Pope.
Amongst those in the group was Styles, who was there by accident. In an interview on BBC Radio 1’s “Breakfast with Greg James,” the singer explained why he was there.
“I used to be getting a haircut in Rome. Then I just heard all these people start shouting ‘Habemus Papam!’ and folks just began running down the road,” Styles explained. His barber briefly stopped cutting his hair and said, “There is a latest Pope!”
Styles was only a five-minute walk away from St. Peter’s Square, and he decided to take a stroll there. “It was wild,” he said.

What He Did During His Hiatus From Music
Styles tried to maintain a low profile while in Rome, but an eagle-eyed fan was capable of capture a photograph that made the rounds on social media. He was wearing a cap and sunglasses, but there was no mistaking that it was the “Watermelon Sugar” singer.
He was still on hiatus from music at the moment, taking a break from the highlight after the two-year “Love On Tour” that concluded in July 2023. Nonetheless, Styles still kept busy with other activities.

James also recounted the opposite times he was spotted during his break, including when he helped a fan reach for a phone under a vehicle and when he attempted, and failed, to parallel park a fan’s automotive in Rome.
As well as, he attended fashion shows, sports events, and music festivals.

The primary single, “Aperture,” from Styles’ latest album has just dropped. It was produced by Kid Harpoon, with whom the artist also worked on his other songs, including “As It Was” and “Adore You.”
As Syltes noted, per Billboard, “Aperture” was inspired by the point he spent away from performing. “I’d had a pair years away from work stuff and a number of big realizations about generally opening up more to the world and allowing some more positive things to come back into my life,” he shared, adding that the song was the “perfect little bow” to his experiences.
