Cameron Smotherman has released an official statement for the primary time after his terrifying collapse that cost him his fight tomorrow night.
The bantamweight contender was resulting from face Ricky Turcios in a bout that might have been make-or-break for his UFC profession after two defeats on the bounce. But in a daunting moment after making weight throughout the limit, he face-planted while walking off the stage.

Smotherman’s UFC 324 fight was quickly cancelled, with fans and experts showing concern on social media. Now, he has spoken out and claims that he didn’t have a difficult weight cut despite the on-stage incident.

In a video shared to his Instagram, Cameron Smotherman insisted that he had made weight okay for the fight, and was unable to clarify exactly why he had collapsed. He plans to undergo further tests to seek out out what happened.
Looking significantly better after rehydrating and receiving medical attention, Smotherman told his followers: “Obviously I actually have gotten numerous messages and I appreciate the entire real concern about me. I’m completely okay. I’m good.
“I’m not entirely sure what happened. I see numerous people online saying, ‘oh, it’s crazy weight cuts’, stuff like that. I genuinely didn’t cut very much weight for this fight. I got here in pretty low, but over the course of this week, I haven’t cut much weight.
“I’m not entirely sure what happened and I actually have some more tests and stuff to soak up the approaching weeks to resolve it. But for all of the people saying I should have done a crazy cut or something like that. I cut very, little or no weight.
“I’m unsure what happened. But yeah, I appreciate the priority. I’m completely okay and I’ll hopefully be back soon. I apologize to my opponent and uh, yeah.”
