Cole Palmer is in contention to return from his thigh injury for Chelsea’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 23-year-old was neglected of Chelsea’s squad for his or her 1-0 win against Pafos within the Champions League on Wednesday night.

‘Cole felt somewhat little bit of tightness in his thigh,’ Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior explained before the sport.

Nevertheless, Palmer took part in training on Friday and is now able to return for Chelsea’s trip to Selhurst Park this weekend.

‘By way of sickness, the players are coming back to full health,’ said Rosenior.

‘We needed to be very careful with that. Thankfully the lads have come through that.

‘Cole is in place, he joined training today which is actually positive. [Filip] Jorgensen had his scan and it was positive. He won’t be available for Palace but is perhaps for Napoli.’

Liam Rosenior insists Cole Palmer is ‘very pleased’ at Chelsea (PA Wire)

When asked if Palmer is 100 per cent fit, Rosenior replied: ‘That’s my job.

‘I would like to take care of the players. Not only when it comes to Cole, but there’s quite a lot of players within the group to take care of. I need us to be involved at the top of the season in big games and large competitions.’

Rosenior also played down suggestions that Palmer is unhappy at Chelsea and will look to depart at the top of the season.

‘I’ve had quite a few conversations with Cole and he seems very pleased to be here. He’s an enormous part in our long-term plans,’ the Chelsea manager said.

‘My job and the club’s job is to get him right into a situation where he can consistently perform to the extent he desires to. There was frustration within the Brentford game. We want to take care of him and that’s why I didn’t involve him within the last game.’
