The son of former three-division world champion of boxing Julio Cesar Chavez suffered an embarrassing defeat when he became the newest big name to share the ring with Jake Paul.
Chavez Jr. was comfortably beaten by Paul across 10 rounds on the Honda Center in Anaheim last June, offering little resistance because the ex-Disney star convincingly outpointed him for the choice win.
Many suggested that result must have spelled the top of the 39-year-old’s boxing profession, but he was back on Saturday night to attempt to avoid his first losing skid in five years.

While he did hold the WBC middleweight title from 2011 to 2012, Chavez Jr. has didn’t live as much as his father’s greatness within the boxing ring.
Since moving past his prime, the Mexican’s decision to have interaction in crossover fights against MMA stars and celebrities has even drawn criticism from the legendary Chavez Sr.
That has not stopped the 63-year-old from showing as much as support his son, and that was the case when Chavez Jr. returned for his first fight since losing to Paul.
On Saturday, Chavez Jr. knocked out Argentina’s Angel Julian Sacco in round 4 of their light heavyweight bout at Arena Coliseo in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
The finish got here after the ex-champ had dropped Sacco with a vicious body shot. He was unable to totally recuperate and ate a swarm of punches from the Mexican vet before the referee ultimately stepped in and waved the fight off.
That marked a primary win for Chavez Jr. since he beat Uriah Hall in 2024, and it has left him with knowledgeable record of 55-7-1.
Saturday’s event also saw Chavez Jr.’s brother, Omar, compete. He faced and defeated Colombia’s Jose Miguel Torres via second-round knockout.

The result against Paul last yr was not Chavez Jr.’s first humiliating defeat contained in the ring. A number of years before that contest, he had also lost to an MMA star.

The boxing legend told Chavez Jr to retire after his defeat to Paul while giving a brutal assessment of the ex-champ’s performance.
“I don’t know what he was doing; it was weird. It was weird to see that form of fighting,” Mosley told Fight Hub TV.
“Chavez Jr. must retire. If you happen to can’t throw any punches in two, three, 4 rounds, what are we doing?
“You’re just living off your father’s name since you didn’t even fight until the last two rounds, and also you had success once you threw some punches. It’s the weirdest thing ever.”
