Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid has not gone as he hoped and there may be interest in bringing him back to the Premier League, in line with reports.
The 27-year-old left Liverpool for the Spanish giants last summer as his contract got here to an end at Anfield.
The England international spent his whole profession with the Reds as much as that time, but left to tackle a brand new challenge in Spain, with Real paying around £8.4m to sign him just before his deal expired.
There could have been little or no transfer fee, however it was a high profile signing as Alexander-Arnold left the Premier League champions to link up along with his England teammate Jude Bellingham on the Santiago Bernabeu.
Things haven’t gone to plan since then, with the versatile right-back and occasional midfielder starting just five La Liga games to date this season.
Injury has hampered Alexander-Arnold’s progress, while there may be also competition for places within the team and Federico Valverde and club captain Dani Carvajal also playing at right-back.
Despite signing for arguably the largest club on the planet last 12 months, Alexander-Arnold has only played once for England under current boss Thomas Tuchel and his place on the World Cup this summer is doubtful.

With just 11 appearances in all competitions to date this campaign, doubts have been raised about his future in Madrid and a move back to England has been mooted, but to not his former club.
TEAMtalk report that Manchester City have Alexander-Arnold on their radar and are considering a move to bring him back to the Premier League.
The previous Liverpool hero signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid last summer, so despite costing next to nothing, they may still demand a hefty transfer fee in the event that they were to sell him.

Manchester City are out there for a brand new right-back, having played Matheus Nunes within the position for the vast majority of the season.
The Portugal international has adapted pretty much to playing in defence, but was brought in as a midfielder when signed from Wolves in 2023.
City manager Pep Guardiola has come up against Alexander-Arnold persistently and hailed his skills as a midfielder when Liverpool beat his side 2-0 in February last 12 months.
‘We tried to play good high pressing and clear long balls as soon as possible,’ Guardiola said after the defeat on the Etihad.
‘That happened, but [Trent] Alexander-Arnold is possibly probably the greatest midfield players on the earth.
‘From linking [play] inside to linking in behind with Salah it’s difficult to manage.’
Alexander-Arnold is currently out of motion with a hamstring injury suffered in December, expected to return in February.
