Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited final film, Jana Nayagan, has been within the headlines for several weeks now almost about its release date. The film – initially scheduled to release in theatres globally on January 9, has been facing trouble in getting a green light from the CBFC. On Tuesday, the Madras High Court put aside a single judge’s order that had directed the censor board to issue a certificate to the film. Because the makers of the film continues to battle to secure the film a release date, actor-turned-MP Ravi Kishan has progressed and offered to assist resolve the problem. Ravi Kishan Offers To Help Release Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan Amid Tussle With CBFC
During a recent interaction with SCREEN, Ravi Kishan said, “I’m hearing about this from you. Otherwise, I even have not received any complaints. But being a parliamentarian, cinema people can approach me directly. They’ll write to me or call me. If any film is stuck, I can definitely call the censor board.”
Explaining why there may very well be a delay, the actor-turned-politician said, “What may very well be the explanation for delays is that they need to scan multiple things in a movie. They need to make sure the language is acceptable, that no religious sentiments are hurt, and that real-life incidents are usually not misrepresented. Lots goes into this process. The actual query is what number of screenings the panel members can realistically conduct in a single day.”
Stating that folks from the film fraternity can directly call him, Ravi Kishan further said, “Through you, I need to convey this to my family, the film industry. They’ll come on to me and make contact with me. All this is occurring while our government is in power, so it’s my responsibility to handle my fraternity. They don’t must worry.”
He added, “I’ll personally speak with the Information Ministry. Parliament might be in session soon, and I’ll be certain that to debate how we will improve the censor board by making it greater, higher equipped, and faster within the certification process so producers can release movies on time.”
